She began her celebration with our first campfire (and marshmallows) of the season.

She slept in the backpacking tent alone. Like she wanted and woke to a quiet, dew-coated world.

She enjoyed a quiet breakfast with her Daddy and me and then sat and finger-knitted until Daddy returned with the Birthday Doughnuts.

And then gifts. The trendy top from Nana and the aviators from her big brother all come together in such a way that she looks every bit of a worldly 11 year old.

But I know my nature girl. I know what’s in that precious heart and budding mind. Right now? Right now she’s gloating over not having to do lessons since it’s her birthday.
